Fire Warden course

Course Overview
This Fire Warden Training course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of a workplace fire warden. The course focuses on preparing for emergencies, responding to incidents, and assisting with evacuations. Participants will learn how to manage fire risks, coordinate with emergency services, and implement emergency response procedures in line with Australian Standards (AS 3745-2010: Planning for emergencies in facilities).
 

Delivered in a practical and engaging format, this training equips employees with the confidence to take control during emergencies and support the safety of all workplace occupants. It includes theoretical instruction and practical scenarios to ensure competence in emergency response procedures.


To ensure the course aligns with industry best practices, this course has been mapped to the national unit of competency: (PUAFER005 – Operate as part of an emergency control organisation)
 

Who Should Attend?
This course is suitable for individuals who are responsible for leading an emergency response in the workplace, including:
 All employees in a workplace as part of fire and emergency preparedness.
 Fire Wardens or the members of the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)
 WHS Officers & Facility Managers.
 Health and Safety Representatives.
 Anyone looking to improve their emergency response capabilities and safety awareness.

 

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
 Identify the types and classes of fires and understand fire behaviour
 Understand the purpose and scope of AS 3745 and its application in workplace emergency planning
 Identify the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency Planning Committee (EPC) and Emergency Control Organisation (ECO), including the Chief Warden, Deputy Warden, Communications Officer, and Area Wardens
 Recognise emergency response procedures, including types of emergencies and the appropriate actions for each.
 Demonstrate the correct procedures for raising an alarm and initiating an evacuation.
 Understand the importance of occupant and visitor awareness and how to ensure all persons are safely accounted for during an emergency.

 Apply strategies for effective communication within the ECO and with emergency services during emergencies.
 Conduct area sweeps, manage assembly areas, and assist with roll calls and headcounts.
 Follow post-evacuation procedures, including debriefing and reporting.
 Participate in emergency drills and understand the importance of ongoing training and review of emergency response procedures

 

Assessment
Participants will be assessed through:

 A written knowledge assessment covering foundational knowledge of fire safety and the correct use of first-attack firefighting equipment.

Certification
Upon successful completion of the course and the post-course assessment, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.
We are not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We do not issue a Statement of Attainment. Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a Certificate of Completion.
